We know that it can be a stressful and difficult time for families when a child lives away from home so we have invested time and resources into ensuring that our young people’s families have access to the support that they need. Our Family Liaison Manager acts as a point of contact in order to facilitate regular and open communication with family members.
We offer structured systemic family work sessions in order to support our young people’s families to discuss and work through difficulties in their relationships with each other. Sessions provide family members with an opportunity to talk to each other with the aim of helping them to understand each other better, change negative behaviours and resolve conflicts. We have found that this has had a positive impact on family relationships and has resulted in an increase in the level and quality of contact between many our children and their families. For further information please contact our Family Liaison Manager.
At various times throughout the year we run training sessions for families on a variety of topics including trauma informed care. We also encourage family members to visit the school and we hold events such as our annual Celebration Day at which families can come together and meet our staff and other families.
